The CostumeCon 34 Exhibit Hall will not only host the displays for the Doll Contest and Resuable Tote Contest, we also plan to have a range of exhibits of costumery that highlight our theme, our local historical heritage, and the diversity of the parent organization, the Madison Area Costuming Society.
Exhibits that will be displayed must be one of the three following categories and meet the associated criteria:
1) Historical Garments
The garments in this category must be the authentic, not recreations. Any special care or display instructions must be disclosed on the registration form.
2) Ethnic Dress
The garments in this category must be respectful representation of the traditional garments of a specified ethnic group. This category is not intended to include ethnically inspired or interpretation of ethnic clothing. There are no specific restrictions on ethnic groups which may be represented. Any special care or display instructions must be disclosed on the registration form.
3) Recreations or Original Designs
The garments in this category includes but is not limited to media recreations, original design, historical recreations, and ethnically inspired costumes. Submissions under this category must have won at least one significant award at a previous costuming convention (Costume-Con, WorldCon, Anime North, or others at the director’s discretion). All awards won with a garment and a brief description of the inspiration must be disclosed on the registration form. Any special care or display instructions must be disclosed on the same form.
Costume-Con 34 staff will review all registrations and will assign space based on the above criteria. Anyone interested in displaying garments in the Exhibit Hall is encouraged to submit the registration form along with pictures of the garment or garments to be displayed.
